This Course teaches the student theory and application of solid modeling techniques used in product design and Fabrication. SolidWorks and MasterCam software is used to teach model design and tool path processes to create projects using the CNC Machining centers in the Mechanical Design Lab. The course emphases a solid foundation in the use of SolidWorks. Students should expect to spend a lot of time working with  the software. A student edition of solidworks is available to practice your designs. Tool path and processing of the design will be applied to the layout by the use of MasterCam X.  This is a project-based course designed to teach the student to 3-D mechanical design. Students will Learn how to create, modify, and manipulate 3-D objects . The student will also produce finished projects by using the services of a 3-D Plotter. Projects are brought to life by creating the designs using modern machining centers. Maximize the benefits of 3-D mechanical design as it is applied in SolidWorks. Improving product design and developing processes in 3-D solid modeling technology is essential to remain competitive.
